Ms. Hammer joined NEA in December 2001. She received her
M.S. in Resource Economics from Colorado State University, focusing on recreation
and agricultural policy. While completing her last year at Colorado State,
Ms. Hammer also gained valuable experience working with the Bureau of Reclamation
on several water-related projects.
While at the Bureau of Reclamation, Ms. Hammer wrote a guidebook on the economic valuation of culturally important American Indian land and water resources. In addition, she has estimated regional economic impacts from changes in reservoir levels in north-central Kansas and has estimated changes in demand for Reclamation services expected from different economic and social events.
Ms. Hammer is currently assisting on a project for the National Wind Coordinating Committee to value and interpret the regional economic impacts of wind power development on the local communities. She is also assisting with an evaluation of the impacts of changing water distribution to an American Indian reservation.
