Project Highlights
Feasibility of a Bottled Water Operation
San Manuel Band of Mission Indians, Highland,
CA
NEA analyzed the feasibility of building and operating a bottled water plant on the San Manuel Reservation. Using both public and proprietary data, we conducted an extensive analysis of supply, demand, and price factors in the bottled water industry at the national, state, and regional levels. Population and consumption trends and competing supplies were utilized to estimate reasonable market penetration rates for the operation. These data and additional information on the costs and capacities of alternative plant designs were used to develop a set of pro forma financial statements for the business. Annual and cumulative profit and loss periods were analyzed, and repayment periods were calculated in recommendations made to the client.
The Economic Capacity of Agriculture in
Southern Kings and Northern Kern Counties
Tulare Lake Drainage District and Lost Hills
Water District,
Corcoran and Bakersfield, CA
NEA conducted a financial analysis of the impacts of environmental regulations establishing habitat for wildlife. The analysis was at both farm and regional levels. The farm-level analysis included detailed enterprise modeling, analysis and projection of cropping patterns, tabulation of costs of complying with environmental regulations, and expected impacts of costs on crop production and returns. The regional-level analysis utilized an input-output model, developed using IMPLAN software, to measure the indirect and total employment, output, and income impacts of regulatory compliance.
Reconnaissance Level Financial Analysis
of a Proposed Destination
Resort and Golf Course
Soboba Band of Luiseno Indians, San Jacinto,
CA
Demographic, supply, and related factors were analyzed to determine whether to proceed with plans to develop a destination resort and golf course on the Soboba Indian Reservation. Competitive advantages and disadvantages of established venues, as well as residential and tourist-based demands for services provided by such facilities, were investigated. NEA developed a set of pro forma financial statements to estimate annual and cumulative profits and losses under varying usage and pricing assumptions for recommendation to the client.
